«Let's not say that today it is more difficult;
it's different. Let's learn rather
by the saints who have gone before us
and they faced the difficulties
characteristic of their era".
«'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart... You shall love your neighbor as yourself' (Mt 22,37:39 and XNUMX). This was the life program of St. Albert Hurtado, who wanted to identify himself with the Lord and love the poor with his own love. The formation received in the Society of Jesus, consolidated by prayer and adoration of the Eucharist, led him to be conquered by Christ, since he was a true contemplative in action. In love and in the total gift of himself to God's will he found the strength for the apostolate. He founded El Hogar de Cristo for the neediest and the homeless, offering them a family environment full of human warmth. In his priestly ministry, he stood out for his simplicity and his availability towards others, being a living image of the Master, "meek and humble of heart". At the end of his days, amidst the severe pain caused by his illness, he still had the strength to repeat: "I am happy, Lord, I am happy", thus expressing the joy with which he always lived".
