He entered the Durango seminary at the age of twelve and immediately stood out for his prayer life and his piety. He was ordained a priest in January 1894. He immediately became spiritual director of the seminary and parish priest in Chalchihuites until his death. Passionate about pastoral work, he is a great organizer and gives impetus to Catholic Action.
He also founded a workshop for Catholic workers and a school for children. He personally teaches catechism to children and adults. He has a great devotion to the Eucharist and before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament he finds himself saying: "Lord, I want to be a martyr, even though I am an unworthy minister of yours, I want to give my blood, drop by drop, for your name." In 1926, after participating in a meeting of the National League for Religious Freedom in response to the closure of churches, he was denounced as a member of a plot against the government.
Father Batiz had left the parish since the closure and lives in a normal house. On the night of August 14, a platoon of soldiers enters the house and takes him prisoner to murder him. The people ask in vain for the priest's release. He is taken to Zacatecas, but during the journey he is taken down and killed with the three young men from the ACJM.
