The parents are in Rome for work, then the family of modest means returns to Tolentino. The father is a hard worker, of sound principles, non-practicing; the mother dedicated to the family, of great faith and fortitude in facing the illness of her son.
At the age of four, in fact, he was diagnosed with a serious illness at Sant'Orsola in Bologna. This is Duchenne disease (progressive muscular dystrophy). Parents agree to share the disease day by day with their child.
Enrolled in the Ac of his parish, he fully assumes its ideals and works intensely until, at the age of twenty-five, muscular dystrophy stops him. From that moment he is like a "live crucifix", for the many years of suffering he experienced, understanding its value. Thus he discovers his mission as a "man for others", a "friend of the sick, an angel of the suffering". He enrolled in Unitalsi, and exercised his apostolate with writings, letters (he left 1700!), meetings, telephone calls. Closed within four walls, immobilized in a bed or in a wheelchair, he is present throughout Italy and also abroad, where his word of encouragement reaches.
He was declared venerable on April 4, 2014.
