n the incandescent climate of Spain in the XNUMXs and XNUMXs, no religious order was spared, just as lay people and priests of the diocesan clergy were not spared.
The five blesseds of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God are part of a group of martyrs, the sixty-nine companions of Braulio Maria Corres and Federico Rubio, who we present here as novices who accepted their vocation in Catholic Action.
FR. JIULIÁN PLAZAOLA ARTOLA
Jiulian was baptized on the same day he was born and received his confirmation on October 6, 1919, at the age of four, according to the custom of the time. He joined Catholic Action and, after completing his studies at the College of Sisters of Christian Schools, he began the business of the cloth trade. At sixteen he discovered his religious vocation.
On May 30, 1934, he entered the postulancy of the Order of St. John of God, in Ciempozuelos and on September 7 of the same year he assumed the habit of novice.
On 8 September 1935 he professed his temporal vows. During the religious persecution, he is arrested and transferred to the San Antón prison, where he becomes an example of a great heroic fortress, until the day he is killed, only twenty-one years old.
