BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES AND PROCEDURE OF THE CAUSE

Antonio Sciarra

1937, Avezzano - 8 December 2012, Avezzano

Don Antonio always maintained a strong bond with Avezzano, his diocese of origin also collaborated with him Elsa Del Manso, a lay fidei donum who shared his missionary service - and with the diocesan Catholic Action, a privileged interlocutor for his work. A long history linked him to the association: he was AC's diocesan assistant and very close to the workers.

The Ac of Avezzano, in particular the ACR, has animated and animates the associative and diocesan participation - the diocesan missionary centre, Caritas, the Rindertimi association, the association of Albanian youth ambassadors of peace - with various activities which have seen involved young volunteers, groups especially in summer, and available adults. This bond continues today with the fidei donum priests of the diocese of Milan: the Blinisht mission, led by Don Enzo Zago from 2007 to Easter 2021, now replaced by Don Alberto Galimberti.

The national ACR dedicated the annual initiative of the Month of Peace 2003 to a fundraiser to support the expenses for the education of "kids under revenge" (specifically with the salary of I dreamed of you in Albania, a young teacher responsible for giving lessons at the home of the young people who were victims of the phenomenon2) and for the construction, in Albania, of a building near the FSHAP headquarters as a "permanent embassy of the Italian young people who are ambassadors of peace".

He also offered particular support to the Ambassadors of Peace in Italy by welcoming a delegation of children and educators led by Don Antonio and a meeting with the then President of the Republic Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, who received the delegation at the Quirinale.

Since 1994, Italian Catholic Action has promoted the building of bridges with Albania through activities at a national level and of many diocesan CAs in collaboration with missionaries who operate in many areas, and with the bishops of the Albanian Episcopal Conference. In recent years he has accompanied the reconstitution of the Albanian CA (present in the country even before the communist dictatorship). A national coordination was established in November 2017, in collaboration with the FIAC.
