Lucia was born in Cosenza on June 9, 1978. Hers is a normal, Christian family, who educated her from an early age to attend the Parish and the kids of the neighborhood, with whom she grew up in deep friendship.
In 1988, she received her First Communion, and shortly thereafter discovered the world of Catholic Action and the ACR, becoming deeply involved and enamored with it for the rest of her life. As a young girl, she regularly attended the ACR group, and as she grew older, she became a talented and dedicated educator. As a teenager, she met the young Emilio in her parish, who, after about ten years of dating and a shared journey of growth, would become her husband. She graduated from high school with a degree in classical studies and enthusiastically enrolled at the University of Calabria in the Faculty of Political Science, majoring in social work. She gradually discovered a great passion for social work, so much so that she devoted herself completely to this sector through work and volunteer work. Hers was a normal, simple life, made up of extraordinary daily routines, study, passionate work, friends (always coming first!), prayer, and a strong friendship with Jesus... but above all, a life of exclusive and unconditional love for her family and her fiancé, with a diary always at hand to plan and organize everything possible for her children and to serve the Church with devotion... A life of great little things, accomplished thanks to her perseverance, her tenacious, strong, and stubborn character! Precisely because of this side of her character, there were sometimes tough confrontations, always clarified in the light of prayer and the Word of the Gospel.
Lucia's characteristic was to smile and love everyone she met, to always be attentive to others and to give of herself generously, despite her human limitations and flaws, which were unique to each of us. In 2002, she became the Diocesan Director of the ACR, accepting this service with humility, dedication, and appropriate authority, always dedicating herself completely and with great passion to the local Church and especially to the young people, whom she loved so much and cared for without holding back.
In 2006, after a spiritual journey as a couple, the choice of marriage matured, celebrated in the same year in the Parish of S. Carlo Borromeo in Rende (CS) on June 1st, a great day of celebration!!
From that moment on, only a very brief period of happiness followed by the discovery of her illness and the beginning of her ordeal... three months of great physical and spiritual suffering, but lived with dignity and complete abandonment to the Lord. On August 29, 2006, Lucia passed away, leaving her diocese and the entire Catholic Action world completely silent in the face of this story and this great person and friend!
