Don Francesco Bonifacio

Catholic Action assistant until martyrdom
Author: Mario Ravalico
Publisher: AVE, March 2016
In the Istria of the war period and immediately following, where political hatred and ethnic intolerance intertwine, especially against Catholics and Italians, Don Francesco Bonifacio completes his life as a priest, which lasted less than ten years.
The love of poverty, the silent and hidden sacrifice, the closeness to the poor and the sick and, above all, the educational passion make him the symbol of a people and of a Church which has seen its existence furrowed by the wounds of persecution and of suffering.
Editorial card

Francis, Evangelii Gaudium 263

«Let's not say that today it is more difficult;
it's different. Let's learn rather
by the saints who have gone before us
and they faced the difficulties
characteristic of their era".
