«Let's not say that today it is more difficult;
it's different. Let's learn rather
by the saints who have gone before us
and they faced the difficulties
characteristic of their era".
When Pier Giorgio Frassati died at the age of 24, on July 4, 1925, people of all walks of life flocked to his family home in Turin to pay their respects. Suffering from polio while visiting a sick person, this young student, a member of Catholic Action, the Italian Federation of Catholic University Students (FUCI), the Dominican Third Order, and the Conferences of Saint Vincent, radiated a burning charity, drawing on a profound faith. Joyful, athletic, and inspiring, immersed in the realities and politics of his time, he saw the face of Jesus in others and expressed it with countless gestures of love. Declared blessed in 1990 by John Paul II and a saint by Pope Francis in 2025, young people from all over the world find in him an inspiration to live their faith and their age to the full. He is the patron saint of athletes, fraternities, and World Youth Days. His life is symbolized by the phrase: "Towards the heights."
