The volume aims to delve into a specific aspect of Armida Barelli's biography and the role she played in the Catholic Church and in Italian society in the first half of the twentieth century. Attention is focused on the contribution given, with the Female Youth, to the social and political education of women; a contribution that is not at all marginal compared to the spiritual and ecclesial one: on the contrary, it constitutes her natural landing place, through the cultural sensitivity that characterizes Barelli's organizational commitment. Thus what emerges is not so much the profile of a "political" Barelli, but the importance of the integral training action, typical of the AC, also for the birth and development of a civil conscience.
