In AC Following the example of her sister Maria, on 2 July 1920 at the age of 15, she enrolled in the Gioventù di Azione Cattolica. In 1921, when the 50th anniversary of the Catholic Youth was celebrated in Rome, Egidio was sent to represent all the local youth.
