«It should be remembered that St. Richard began his path of sanctification in the context of the intense spirituality of the laity, proposed by Catholic Action. For this reason, both as an adolescent and as a young student and professional, he committed himself to the work of formation with the help of careful spiritual direction, making the spiritual exercises his strong commitment, and drawing from Eucharistic piety the energy necessary to continue despite the difficulties. Above all, he greatly deepened the message of evangelical charity in the light of meditation and prayer, spending intense times of contemplation alongside the Eucharist, and then dedicating himself, with a particularly acute sensitivity, to the suffering in all circumstances".
